Vehicle #1: 2013 Ford Fusion, $6,500 damage

Driver #1: Michael Plummer, 33, of Volga, SD

Vehicle #2: 2019 Chevy Blazer, $7,500 damage

Driver #2: Shayn Palmlund, 25, of Arlington, SD

Passenger: Keyanna Palmlund, 23, of Arlington, SD

On the above date and time, the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Brookings Ambulance and Volga Fire Department were dispatched to the US14 and Caspian Ave intersection in Volga for an injury collision. When crews arrived, they found Michael Plummer, 33, of Volga, SD was traveling eastbound on US14 while Shayn Palmlund, 25, of Arlington, SD was traveling west on US14 and turning south onto Caspian Ave. When Shayn turned south, he crossed the eastbound lane causing Michael’s vehicle to impact Shayn’s. This impact caused disabling damage to both vehicles and one passenger was taken to the Brookings Hospital by Brookings Ambulance for unknown injuries. Charges against Shayn for failing to yield are pending. This incident remains under investigation by the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
