Vehicle #3: 2017 Dodge Ram 2500 City of Brookings Fire Truck $3,200 damage
Vehicle #4: 2021 Dodge Ram 3500 $6,150 damage
Vehicle #5: 2003 Cadillac Escalade $6,150 damage

On the above date and time, the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office along with the South Dakota Highway Patrol and Brookings Fire Department were notified a vehicle had impacted a cow while traveling at the above location. It was found approx. 90 head of cattle had gotten out of a pen and some entered the interstate through a fence gate which was open and were standing on the roadway or in the ditch. As the deputy was taking a report of the first accident, five more vehicles struck multiple other cattle. In total, six vehicles were damaged and twelve head of cattle were hit. One cow was hit on 471st avenue and 200th street. Vehicle number #5 listed above hit the cow on 471st avenue. The total loss of the cattle is $11,500.
